Dual Fuel
Dual fuel is a program that combines electric heat with your existing heating system. Dual fuel allows you to save money by utilizing the off-peak electric rate of 6.384 cents per kWh offered by Barron Electric. The separately metered electric unit is used as your primary heat source, and during peak demand periods, you will rely on your alternate heating source. This heating system is a great option for members building new homes or looking to heat their entire home with electric heat.
Some examples of Dual Fuel are:- Baseboard heat with gas/oil furnace back-up
- Hydronic heating with gas/oil furnace/boiler back-up
- Electric plenum heater with gas/oil furnace back-up
- Hydronic boiler with thermostatically-controlled gas fireplace
- 100% efficiency
- Clean, safe, reliable source of heat
- Significant savings on your heating bill
All heating systems must be approved by a Barron Electric representative prior to qualifying for the off-peak rate. Kilowatt-hour sales from off-peak heating are not eligible for capital credits. All backup systems must be auto-start systems. Program expires 12-15-2010. A second meter is required at $5.25/month fixed cost.
Rate effective May 1, 2009. This rate and second meter fixed cost are subject to change. Rate is available upon installation of load management equipment.
