Electric thermal storage is a heating system that uses high density bricks to store heat inside a special cabinet. Electricity is used to heat the bricks during off-peak hours when rates are at 5.7 cents/kWh. Then, when the thermostat calls for heat, a fan blows across the bricks and circulates the stored heat throughout the room. Electric thermal storage is also a great option for members who don’t want to change their main heating system, but would like a low-cost way to heat selected rooms in their home.
